How to Stop Dog Aggression
- The reason dogs even have aggression is probably based on the owners way of treating them. The owner probably abused the dogs, or maybe kept making the wrong choices on accident.
- Dog aggression can also result from what is visible to a dog. For example if your dog grew up with aggressive dogs, your dog gets used to the surroundings and thinks its okay to act like them. So your dog gets an aggression problem.
- It will be much easier to train your dog off of aggression once it is still a puppy, because the techniques you will show your puppy will become the dogs habits.
- If your dog starts biting or growling, you first of all should firmly call out "no!" and feel like the leader in this situation. Remember at all times that you are the master, and you are in charge of your dog.
- After calling out firmly, lock your dog up in a room for 30 seconds, with no toys or with no fun allowed. This is using something called the "time out" technique.
- Also, if your dog is aggressive towards other dogs, take some treats with you the next time you walk your dog. Every time your dog sees another dog, before the aggressive behavior starts, give your dog a reward, something that is extra special for it, that way it will be in a great mood every time it sees another dog.
