When you first bring your puppy home many people make the mistake of letting the puppy do whatever it wants to do because they are just "so darn cute". 1. If you dont want your 65 pound Labrador taking up half your bed then do not let your 10 pound puppy on your bed. Many people will make exceptions for the new puppy but it is important that if you do not want this behavior from your dog later, that you do not let this happen, EVER! If the dog is never let up on the bed they will never know what they are missing and will always understand that this is unacceptable behavior.
2. Always make sure that everyone in your household is aware of what the rules are for your puppy from the moment you bring them home. Sometimes all it can take is one person in your household to allow the canine to do something that would normally be deemed unacceptable to dramatically change their behavior.
3. Dogs only want to please you. They are pack animals and only want to help the group by pleasing the leader. if they are doing any behavior you find unacceptable it is only because they do not know it to be wrong. Make sure to reward them as often as possible for good behavior and show them all the love you can!
